A big congratulations to all the winning finalists, great seasons and deserving wins. Thanks to everyone who came out to support and watch the grand finals, it was great to have a result and not have a heat cancellation again.
The juniors had a great turn out to their final on Friday night. With some great tennis on display, and great sportsmanship. Cudlee Creek conclude their near perfect season with the win. Hardly dropping sets all season, grand final was no different. Winning all sets available, Cudlee Creek proved to be levels above the rest.
Gumeracha also concluding their near perfect season with a great win over Kersbrook. Gumeracha were off to a good start securing the doubles sets 2-1. Then continued their strong performance into the singles. Winning 5 of the sets, securing the championship before the reverse doubles. Gumeracha’s Nick Birch finishing off his flawless season, remaining undefeated at the top seed and grand final was no different. A very strong and competitive Gumeracha side was too strong on the day and the season, look forward to seeing them again next season.
A much tighter match in the A grade final, coming down to the reverse doubles. As we saw last week, Mt Pleasant’s depth with the 8-player team worked great to their advantage. Picking up the win against Birdwood, Mt Pleasant played incredible tennis through their finals run. Luke Markey playing his usual great tennis at the top seed, winning his three sets for Birdwood. Strong singles win too from Steve Markey. However, Mt Pleasant’s doubles were the winning decider. Michael and Annaliese Noack played phenomenal in a crucial final reverse double set, winning 6-0. Along with Matt Schulz and Alysha Seager’s win, it secured the championship for Mt Pleasant.
